turk4u

site in consideration: Across An Ocean of Dreams*

content: Unlike many (most) D-land sites, turk4u - Leah, by another name - has a wealth of content to keep a person engaged and wanting more. There are hundreds of entries, which offer a crisp and intelligent look into her thoughts, family, and desires for school and the future. Outside of those, quotes (many of which I've never seen, which is impressive for a quotes-whore such as myself) and an autobiography that didn't project as shameless self-love and actually gave me insight into the person behind the site. The layout is simple and aesthetically pleasing, and really all that was wrong was a persistent and undefinable javascript error - small enough where it didn't interrupt with site functionality at all. I'm just a touch anal about correct coding! [43/45]

expression/personality: When she requested review, she said that she's unique, and she wasn't kidding. Her interests are as varied and as colorful as candy, and just as sweet to taste - from yoga and yaoi to RPG/adventure games and religion, with music, friends, Oscar Wilde and a million things in between. She presents herself in a down-to-earth and level-headed manner, and manages to reflect youth and positivity as well. She's confident in herself, her sexuality, and her preferences. She has what I call an "old soul" grasp on the more elusive joys in life. [25/25]

extras: There are enough extras here to keep you more than occupied, once you've left the main D-land site. Be sure to check out the on-going vampire story she's writing with a friend, her Elfwood art and her off-site writings. She doesn't have many rings or cliques, but in this instance, quality speaks above quantity. [10/10]

contact: The most obviously placed links are to her guestbook and e-mail address. That's enough for me; the negative detraction here comes from her guestbook, which I feel could be more on target with the rest of her site, layout-wise. It's too active a guestbook to seem like a casual afterthought! [8/10]

links: Her links reflect her interests, and point the surfer in many fascinating and important directions. They're handled in a concise manner - in alphabetized categories, and cover art and writing to food and shopping. There are a few of the usual suspects, but are almost entirely distinctive and novel. [9/10]

total score: 95. Impressive and in need of only the most minor of improvements to be perfect, in my estimation. If there are standards for perfection, though - she's rather close.

comments: I didn't expect to be so doting on my first review run, but simply put, this site kicks my ass. I'm tickled that my first site reviewed was so enjoyable to explore, and almost hated detracting points.

Score: 95
